The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Lady watch on Ms. Mendes’ wrist is the 18-karat yellow gold version, which looks particularly exquisite with its twin rows of round brilliant diamonds, contrasting matte silvered dial, and white alligator strap.  Not only did this combination of materials coordinate superbly with what Mendes wore for the evening, the watch fit her wrist as if it had been designed for it, being neither too small nor so large that it skated past the boundaries of good taste.

Of course, it would have exactly the same balanced presence on the wrists of many other women, as well.  Elegant, enduringly stylish, and an embodiment of stereotypical Swiss craftsmanship, it demonstrates (yet again) why Jaeger-LeCoultre’s iconic Reverso wristwatch has endured for so long–and will continue to do so as long as there is demand for fine timepieces.

Shortly before Baselworld, I reported on how the German watch magazine Armbanduhren voted the A. Lange & Sohne Cabaret Tourbillon as the best watch of the year . As part of that same contest, other categories of "best watch" included the "best women's watch of 2009." That prize went to Jaeger LeCoultre for its new Reverso Squadra Lady Duetto watch. The Squadra line of watches is for men and women, with the timepieces for both genders being elegant and sporty - as well as true to the Reverso watch line tradition. The watch is really two-in-one as the case flips around to reveal two watch faces. Both tell the time, but are decorated differently, and one side has a date complication, while the other side has a day/night indicator complication. Two versions of the watch are available in stainless steel or 18k rose gold. Both versions feature guilloche engraving on the dials and strong baton hands. Two different diamond settings are available; 36 diamonds on the steel version and 75 on the rose gold version. The inset diamond cabochon in the crown is a nice touch as well. The strap seen in the images is an articulated rubber strap that should be interesting to wear. An alligator strap, or metal bracelet are also available.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Launches Reverso Squadra Lady

Two years after the advent of the Reverso Squadra for men, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents a collection dedicated to women. The boldly styled Reverso Squadra Lady offers two faces, a fast and easy to use strap-change system, a wide array of materials, a classic design and the sparkle of diamonds. There are two lines with two case sizes: a smaller feminine size and a more generously proportioned model that will appeal to women wishing to sport a watch that catches the eye at first glance.

These timepieces are equipped with the latest generation movements. Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 657 provides the user-friendliness of quartz, as well as a second face left free for personalized engraving. Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 966, a mechanical automatic model, is distinguished by a 42-hour power reserve and a date display inserted within the number 6. All the automatic models feature a sapphire crystal caseback enabling women who appreciate fine watchmaking to admire the working of its intricate mechanism.

Finally, since each Reverso Squadra is first and foremost a swivel watch, the Duetto (pictured below) reveals two faces of time. The principle is the same as ever, with one face set with diamonds and featuring a date display and a day/night disc adorned with sun and moon symbols. The back, which is devoted to a straightforward hour and minute display, reveals the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 968 through a discreet aperture in the center of the guilloché dial that reveals the movement’s oscillating weight. The Duetto is available in steel with gem-setting on the front along with white and black dials, or in a pink gold version with gem-setting on both sides, along with white and black dials.

The Reverso Squadra Lady is being delivered to retailers now.
